Get outdoors and boost your fitness, health and mental well-being with the many amenities on offer!
One of Waterfall’s core values is promoting the vitality and health of those who live and work here. To ensure a healthy body and mind, Waterfall has created an environment that fosters and encourages an active way of life for everyone.
Whether you are an avid runner, cyclist, gym bunny, golfer, or you simply enjoy taking a stroll amongst the beautiful scenery – there is nothing you won’t find to help you boost your well-being this year.
Get your heart rate up
While our residential estates boast over 35km of hiking and biking trails, fishing dams, and even a 20km mountain bike track, the 5-hectare lake in Waterfall Country Village offers rowing, paddling and windsurfing. The relative privacy of these amenities makes them ideal for a break in nature during lockdown restrictions.
But you don’t have to be a resident to enjoy a sporty outdoor lifestyle! Waterfall has been designed as a safe walkable and bikeable neighbourhood. Waterfall City features pedestrian-friendly walkways and dedicated cycle lanes and is home to the popular Parkrun. Alongside the 5km walking and running trail, there is also Waterfall Park, a 1,2-hectare expanse of green space, where you can get some fresh air therapy in the heart of the city.
Should walking and running be your passion, why not join the Waterfall City Athletics Club? Founded in 2018, the non-profit Club provides access to races and training in the Waterfall area, all of which are inclusive of registration.
Take a swing outside
Work on your swing, practise pitching or perfect your putting skills. Whatever your pleasure, the largest golf practice facility in the southern hemisphere, World of Golf, awaits. With a mashie course designed by Gary Player, 12 different practice areas, 190 hitting bays, and a Gary Player Golf Experience teaching academy, if golf is your game, this is where you need to be.
Step into one of our gyms
Waterfall offers no less than nine gyms, eight of which are located in the residential developments, with a Virgin Active catering to the general public. Enjoy strength training and conditioning, overall body fitness and more. Some of the gyms offer personal trainers, Yoga classes, squash courts and swimming pools. Waterfall Wilds Lifestyle Centre is home to BODYTEC, which combines electro muscle stimulation (EMS) with personal training, allowing you to benefit from a one-on-one full-body workout in 20 minutes flat. BODYTEC and Waterfall’s gyms are currently under lockdown restrictions and are operational at a lower capacity.
How about some horse riding?
Situated on the Waterfall Equestrian Estate, the Waterfall Equestrian Centre offers scenic outrides on the Estate and along bridle paths on the banks of the Jukskei River. The Centre mainly provides horse riding lessons for all ages, dressage and show jumping, but extras like pony parties, romantic outrides and photoshoots are also available.

World-class healthcare
When it comes to your health, Waterfall has you covered. Netcare Waterfall City Hospital is a private, state-of-the-art hospital with 200 beds. It offers a 24-hour emergency service as well as COVID-19 testing through its in-house Ampath and Lancet Laboratories. Waterfall Hills boasts a Frail Care Centre, operated by Total Care. It has 30 beds, specialist medical equipment and dedicated full-time or part-time caregivers for residents of Waterfall’s two Mature Lifestyle Estates who require assisted living services. A doctor is on call 24-hours a day, and a nurse and matron, based in the Centre, can make house calls.
Something for everyone
Family is important to us, and that’s why Waterfall caters for everyone. Kids are welcome to take part in walks, cycling activities and trail rides. And everyone can enjoy the scenery and facilities on offer at our numerous parks and play areas dotted around the estates and shopping centres, not to mention all the outdoor activities, as well as putt-putt at Waterfall Wilds.
Please note while most of our facilities remain open during COVID-19, some are temporarily closed, such as the Parkrun and Waterfall Park, and others may offer limited or adjusted services. Remember to maintain social distancing, wash and sanitise your hands regularly, and wear masks in all public areas to ensure your and your community’s continuing health and vitality.
